The General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President Xi Jinping and Mrs. Peng Liyuan met with the Korean Friendship Art Troupe headed by Li Suyong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Korean Labour Party, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee and Minister of International Affairs, in Beijing on 27th.
Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan welcome the DPRK Friendship Art Troupe to perform in China. Xi pointed out that the visit was not only an important cultural exchange activity to implement the important consensus between China and DPRK, but also an important celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and DPRK. It is believed that the visit will be a complete success and enhance the friendship between the two peoples.
Li first conveyed the cordial greetings and good wishes of Chairman Kim Jong-un and Ms. Li Xuezhu to General Secretary Xi Jinping and Ms. Peng Liyuan. He sincerely thanked General Secretary Xi Jinping for his concern and attention to the visit of the Friendship Art Troupe to China.
Xi asked Li to convey his cordial greetings and good wishes to Chairman Kim Jong-un and Ms. Li Xuezhu. Xi pointed out that since 2018, I have met with Chairman Kim Jong-un four times and reached important consensus on the development of bilateral relations between the two parties in the new era. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and DPRK. China is ready to work with the DPRK to implement the important consensus between the two sides, better benefit the people of the two countries, and make positive contributions to regional and world peace, stability, development and prosperity.
Xi Jinping emphasized that cultural and artistic exchanges are an important part of the distinctive and traditional relations between China and the DPRK. It is hoped that the two sides will work together to implement the important consensus reached by Chairman Kim Jong-un and me on strengthening exchanges and cooperation in the field of culture and art between China and the DPRK, and continue to make positive contributions to consolidating the basis of friendship and public opinion between China and the DPRK, inheriting the traditional friendship between China and the DPRK and promoting their respective socialist cultural construction.
Li Suyong once again thanked General Secretary Xi Jinping and Ms. Peng Liyuan for taking time out of their busy schedule to watch the performance. He said that the visit of the Korean Friendship Art Troupe to China was to sincerely express Chairman Kim Jong-un's deep friendship with General Secretary Xi Jinping and the Korean people towards the Chinese people. The DPRK will earnestly implement the important consensus reached by Chairman Kim Jong-un and General Secretary Xi Jinping, strengthen DPRK-China friendly cooperation and make new contributions to composing a new chapter of DPRK-China friendship.
After the meeting, Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan watched the performance of the Korean Friendship Art Troupe. The performance opened in the music of "Korean-Chinese Friendship Forever Green". Subsequently, Korean artists performed Chinese songs such as "Arirang" and "Song of the Yangtze River" for Chinese audiences, and the audience warmly applauded the excellent performances of Korean artists. The performance ended with the song of "Unforgettable Tonight", and the scene was filled with joy and friendliness.
After the performance, Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan came on stage to shake hands with the performers and take pictures with them to congratulate them on their success.
Wang Huning, Ding Xuexiang, Sun Chunlan, Yang Jiechi, Huang Kunming, Cai Qi and Wang Yi met and watched the performance.
The Korean Friendship Art Troupe visited China at the invitation of the Foreign Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
