The Seventeenth National Congress of the Chinese Trade Union opened in the Great Hall of the people on the morning of 22. Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng and other party and state leaders attended the meeting to congratulate, Wang Huning on behalf of the Party Central Committee.

       The auditorium of the Great Hall of the people has a solemn atmosphere. Above the rostrum hangs the logo of the 17th National Congress of China's Trade Unions. The trade union emblem, which symbolizes the unity of China's trade unions and the Chinese working class, shines brightly in the middle of the backstage, with 10 bright red flags on both sides. The grandstand on the second floor hangs the banner of "holding high the great banner of socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era of Xi Jinping, adhering to the path of socialist trade union development with Chinese characteristics, uniting and mobilizing hundreds of millions of workers to fight for the success of building a well-off society in an all-round way and realizing the Chinese dream of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation."        Loaded with the trust of hundreds of millions of workers, more than 2,000 representatives of the 17th National Congress of China's trade unions and nearly 100 invited representatives from all walks of life attended the grand meeting.

       At 9:30 a.m., Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the State and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, entered the meeting hall with warm applause.

Wang Dongming, executive chairman of the presidium, announced the opening of the conference. All rise and sing the national anthem.

       On behalf of the Party Central Committee, Wang Huning delivered a speech entitled   "Demonstrating the New Style of Working Class Unity and Struggle in the New Era in China". First of all, Wang Huning extended warm congratulations on the convening of the conference and sincere greetings to workers of all nationalities and trade union cadres throughout the country.

       In his speech, Wang Huning said that since the 18th National Congress of the Party, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the working class of our country, with a high sense of mission and historical responsibility as masters, has actively engaged in the hot practice of carrying out great struggles, building great projects, advancing great undertakings and realizing great dreams. Since the 16th National Congress of China's Trade Unions, trade unions at all levels have adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping's socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era, organized and mobilized workers to make contributions, promoted the construction of harmonious labor relations, promoted the reform of industrial workers'ranks, deepened the reform and innovation of trade unions, and made important progress in various work, trade unions and trade unions. The political, advanced and mass character of the work has been significantly enhanced.

       Wang Huning said that General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on the work of the working class and trade unions pointed out the way forward for the innovation and development of labor movement and trade union work in the new era. To realize the grand blueprint put forward by the 19th National Congress of the Party is the common task of the whole Party and the people of all ethnic groups, and it is also the historical mission of the working class in China. It is hoped that the working class of our country will unite their thoughts and actions with the spirit of the Nineteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, adhere to their ideals and beliefs, carry forward their national spirit, arouse their enthusiasm for labor, make reform and innovation with determination, train their hard skills and sing the song of the strugglers in the new era.

       Miao Hua, Member of the Central Military Commission and Director of the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Youth League, congratulated the General Assembly on behalf of the people's organizations, the PLA and the armed police.

       Wang Dongming, on behalf of the 16th Executive Committee of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, made a report entitled "Taking Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era as a guide, uniting and mobilizing hundreds of millions of workers to win the victory of building a well-off society in an all-round way and seizing the great victory of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era". The report is divided into three parts: the key achievements of trade union work in the past five years; in-depth study and implementation of the socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era of Jinping, and unswervingly follow the path of socialist trade union development with Chinese characteristics; and the main tasks of trade union work in the next five years.

       In the form of a written report, the Congress submitted to the delegates the Articles of Association of China Trade Unions (Amendments), the Financial Work Report of the 16th Executive Committee of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the Report of the 16th Financial Review Committee of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions for their consideration.

       Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, relevant leading comrades of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the State Council, the CPPCC National Committee and the Central Military Commission attended the meeting.

       Relevant departments of the central and state organs, the PLA and the Armed Police Force, the central authorities of democratic parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and representatives of non-Party personages, responsible comrades from various people's organizations and Beijing, friends from the trade union circles of Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Region, and representatives of workers from all walks of life in the capital attended the opening ceremony.
