Wanghailou: Dialogue is a proper gesture among civilizations
Release time:2019-05-16

On the scene of the Asian Conference on Dialogue of Civilizations, there were two applause exchanges.

On one occasion, Chairman Xi Jinping said, "Human beings are only different in color and language. Civilization is only different in purple and red, but there is no difference between good and bad. It is foolish to think that one's race and civilization are superior to others and to persist in reforming or even replacing other civilizations. It is disastrous in practice. If human civilization has only one tone and one mode, the world will be too monotonous and dull! ______________ This remark won warm applause from time to time.

At one time, Greek President Pavlopoulos said, "At present, there are some people in the world who advocate the so-called"clash of civilizations", which is very wrong. In fact, there should be no conflict and confrontation between real civilizations. There are differences among different civilizations. We should respect each other and learn from each other through dialogue and exchanges. This is the way for lasting world peace and harmonious coexistence of mankind. This remark also received warm applause.

On the occasion of the dialogue between civilizations, the Chinese leaders in Asia and the Greek leaders from the West expressed the important view that civilizations should be equal and that civilizations should not conflict, which is of great significance to today's world.

After thousands of years of ups and downs, the two ancient civilizations, East and West, have crossed mountains, rivers and rivers and reached a common conclusion that the weight of the two civilizations is of great importance, which deserves serious consideration by the world. The more sunshine, the less darkness; the more justice, the less evil. Among different civilizations in the world and among Asian countries, there exists self-consciousness and conflict and confrontation in some regions. This is not the normal relationship between civilizations and deserves the world's vigilance.

Dialogue is the proper gesture among civilizations. On the "stage" of the Asian Civilization Dialogue Conference set up by China, guests from all countries spoke freely. Both Sri Lankan President Sirisena's angry criticism of international terrorism and religious extremism, and Cambodian King Sihamoni's praise of the colorful cultures of Asian countries, in this "stage", civilization is above all, and culture seeks common ground while reserving differences.

What is dialogue? It is an important way to overcome the crisis and reconstruct identity. It is also a solution that the whole world needs in the face of the "unprecedented change in a century". It was during the opening ceremony and the six parallel sub-forums that representatives from 47 Asian countries, representing two thirds of the world's population, had a fruitful dialogue. Other government officials and representatives from all walks of life from other countries also participated in the dialogue. A truly dialogue-able Asia will be a beautiful Asia. A truly dialogue-able world will not fail the hope of human society.

Where did civilization come from? Chairman Xi Jinping said well that generations after generations of Asian ancestors had gone through the baptism of years, engraving the practice of production and life into a long history and deep civilization. It is no coincidence that people in Asia today are witnessing the passing down of etiquette, immortality of texts, immortality of art, diversity of systems and brilliance of civilization.

Taking China as an example, we have experienced the contention of hundreds of schools of thought in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, as well as the introduction of Buddhism, Islam and Christianity into China successively. We have not only promoted world change with the four inventions of paper making, gunpowder, printing and compass, but also conscientiously studied the technology and knowledge in many fields of the West, which has made the ancient Eastern countries move towards hope and prosperity.

Where does civilization go? No matter how high or low, it's not monotonous, it's more interesting. The world is made up of different cultures, races, colours, religions and social systems. It should be as free as a note and as thick as a brush. For some countries and some people, it is very valuable to get rid of the so-called "clash of civilizations", "clash of civilizations" and "confrontation of civilizations". A world in which you have me and I have you means tolerance, understanding and real equality.

This is the spirit of today's China to stand in Asia and the world with a civilized China, and it will also be the way of communication that China will adore in the future. It is China's glory and dream to exchange and learn from the civilizations of Asia and the world.
